Nem túl szép megoldás az új erősítőt egy másik kombó erősítő hangszórójával használni. Sokkal jobban szólna, és jobban is mutatna egy saját ládával, ami még megjelenésében is harmonizál vele. És meg is érdemli.

Using the new amplifier with the speaker of another combo isn't a nice thing. It would sound and look much better with his own speaker cabinet that even matches its design. And he deserves it.

2017.10.19. Tervezés - Planing

Hangszóró választás: A döntés - mint mindig - kompromisszum a jó hangminőség és a megfizethetőség között. A választás a 12 inches Celestion hangszórókra esett a jó minőség jegyében, a hangszórók számában és a beszerzési forrásban pedig a megfizethetőség győzőtt: két darab fele annyiba kerül, mint négy, valamint egy alig használt Celestion jóval olcsóbb és szól olyan jól, mint egy új. Több külföldi fórumon olvastam, hogy a G12T-75 (75W) és a Vintage 30 (60W) jól kiegészítik egymást, így a hatalmas Celestion választékból ezeket szemeltem ki, és sikerült is szerezni belőlük egy-egy jó állapotú használt példányt a GS Fanatic online bazárból.

Méret és forma: a "2 x 12" -es felépítés elég gyakori, és közkedvelt, sok fotó és rajz található a neten gyári és házi készítésű ládákról. Ezek alapján, és a korábban megépített erősítővel való harmónia igényével készítettem három látványtervet, hogy segítsenek eldönteni, milyen elrendezés mutatna jól. A baloldali nyerte meg az esztétikai versenyt, mivel szélessége megyegyezik az erősítőével, de alacsonyabb, mint a középső. Az előlap kissé döntött lesz.

Anyag: E témában is rengeteg információ található, némelyik talán kissé tudományosabb is, mint szükséges. Abszolút szubjektív dolog, hogy a kész láda hangja végül tetszik-e majd, vagy sem, ezt a tervezésnél nem tudom figyelembe venni. Amit megtehetek, hogy a többség által hangláda építéshez alkalmatlan anyagokat, mint a bútorlap, kerülöm. Az erősítővel való harmónia miatt a fenyődeszkából készült doboz és a rétegelt lemez elő- és hátlap mellett döntöttem.

Choosing the speakers: It is - as always - a trade-off between sound quality and budget. I decided to use 12" Celestion speakers for the sake of sound quality. The number of speakers and the source were determined by the budget: two speakers cost half the price than four and a hardly used Celestion is much cheaper than a new one and sounds as good. I read many opinions about G12T-75 (75W) and Vintage 30 (60W), that they match together well, so I looked for them, and managed to get them on the GS Fanatic, webstore for used equipment.

Size and form: The 2 x 12 layout is very popular, there are many pictures and plans of stock and DIY cabinets on the net. I created three vision plans with different height and width based on these and considering the harmony with the amp head. The leftmost version has won because it is as wide as the amp head but smaller than the second one. It will be realized with a slightly tilted front.

Materials: There is much information on the net in this topic too, maybe some of the articles are too scientific. The overall sound of the cabinet, affected by the wood, is subjective, and you won't hear it before the cabinet is finished, so you cannot consider it during planing. The only thing I can do is omit materials that are inappropriate for building speaker cabinets (e.g. particle wood). I decided to use 18 mm pine board for the box to be in harmony with the amp head and 15 mm birch plywood for the baffle and the backing because it is harder.

2017.11.11. Az oldalak kiszabása - Cutting the sides

A fenyő polclapokat a OBI-ból szereztem be és komolyabb asztalos műhelyberendezés híján ismét hobbi dekopírfűrésszel vágtam a deszkát, és az illesztéseket. Most több türelemmel dolgoztam, nagyobb gondot fordítva a pontosságra, mint az erősítő házánál.

The pinewood boards are from OBI (a European home improvement store chain based in Germany). Having no professional woodworking equipment, I cut the boards and the joints with my hobby jigsaw. This time I had more patience to cut the joints more precisely than I did for the housing of the amp head.

2017.11.18. Az oldalak ragasztása - Gluing the sides

Előszőr az előlap és hátlap rögzítő léceket ragasztottam az oldalakra, csavarokkal megerősítve, majd az oldalakat ragasztottam egymáshoz. A derékszög tartásához a már leszabott előlapot tettem a helyére a ragasztás idejére. Ezért kellett a tartóléceket előre beragasztani. A racsnis heveder sarkonként 2-2 léccel megsegítve tökéletes megoldás volt az élek összehúzására.

First I fixed the cleats with glue and screws on the sides, the glued the sides together. I put the baffle in its place to keep the right angle during drying. That's why the cleats had to be glued first. The ratchet straps with 2 wooden blocks per edges were the perfect solution for pressing the edges to each other.

2017.11.19. Az előlap kivágása - Cutting the baffle

A hangszórók, a csavarok és a körmös anya helyét körzővel rajzoltam fel. A körmös anya helyét kicsit be is martam, hogy nagyjából egy síkban legyen a fával.

I used a pair of compasses to draw the places of the speakers, the screws and the tee nuts. The places of the tee nuts are sunk, so that they are about flush with the surface.

2017.11.22. Hangszóró kábelek szerelése - Assembling the loudspeaker cables

Haladjunk a korral: a hangszórót csatlakoztassuk az erősítőhöz speakON rendszerrel. A tartós minőség jegyében Neutrik csatlakozókat szereztem be (hangtechnikakft.hu), és egy kiselejtezett háztartási berendezésről levágott, háromeres hálózati vezeték két erét használtam fel. Ezek kb. 2 mm2 sodrott rézvezetékek. A hossza kb. 95 cm lett. Az erősítőn is ki cseréltem a jack aljzatot speakON aljzatra.

A belső kábelek ugyanilyen vezetékekből és ugyanonnan beszerzett kábelsarukból készültek.

 Let's get up-to-date: If it's a speaker, it must be connected to the amp head via speakON system. I bought Neutrik connectors for durability and used 2 wires of a cable cut from a waste household appliance These wires are cca. 2 mm2 (#14 AWG) stranded copper. The length became 95 cm. I replaced the loudspeaker jack on the back of the head to a speakON chassis connector.

The inner cables are made from wires of the same type and cable shoes from the same shop.

2017.12.04. Festés után - After painting

Ugyanazokkal a festékekkel kezeltem, mint az erősítőt, ugyanannyi rétegben: egy réteg alapozó, két réteg szín, két réteg lakk. A második réteg szín után, a lakk előtt finoman átcsiszoltam, mert addigra érdes lett.

I used the same materials and the same number of layers as for the amp head: one layer of base, two layers of color and two layars of lacquer. After the second layer of color, before the lacquer I smoothed the surface because the three layers of paint made it scratchy.
